Not all us Aussies love Vegemite. There is one Australian (I think he lives in Sydney) who doesn’t eat Vegemite at all.

None of us trust him, though.

Upon viewing this particular jar of unopened vegemite from Woolworths, you’ll notice the title across the top:

“ONLY AT WOOLWORTHS”

It isn’t true…

Woolies lied.

Vegemite is everywhere.

So how can they say this?

Because, Woolies is just talking about that particular SIZE of vegemite (isn’t it obvious?). Yes. You can grab a smaller or larger jar just about anywhere. They just mean this exact size is: “only available at Woolworths”.

Why would they do this?

The reason they are the ONLY one to provide this particular SIZE of Vegemite is so they could have this misleading heading across the top, causing you to wrongly believe that Vegemite is ONLY available at Woolworths.

Designing a special size of Vegemite just to fool a few simple folk with vague marketing tactics is not honest.

My point?

(besides giving Woolworths a hard time)

Be honest with your customers.

If you deserve their business, they deserve your honesty.

Yes, you can manipulate emotion so people ‘feel’ the problem you solve – and you should – this is what I’ve talked about in my sales training for years, because it works.

But fibbing just to make a buck?

Not nice…

Not necessary…

Not revolutionary…

…and, there are superior ways to sell people lunch.
