On Thursday, Mike Tyson said this…

“Legacy? That’s just ego. We’re dust. Who cares?”

Many events have shaped Mike Tyson’s mindset:

You could point to the prison he came from as a poor teenager.

It could be the $400M+ he made as heavyweight world champion (by age 20) or it could be that he declared bankruptcy after that, or maybe just all the magic mushrooms he’s eaten…

…but the man has zero ego.

He proved this again on Thursday, when a 14-year-old social media personality (lol) asked him about what he hoped his legacy would be:

“Legacy doesn’t mean nothing. That’s just some word everyone grabbed onto… I’m just passing through. I’m gonna die, and it’s going to be over. Who the f–k cares?”

Uncommon men drop uncommon wisdom.

Mike Tyson didn’t just trash-talk his own legacy, old mate trash-talked the whole concept of anyone even having a legacy.

Like, how the fuck are you going to have an ego so damn strong that you actually believe it will somehow survive your own death?

Pft…

There’s an old saying that was probably born from the Titanic tragedy. I’m not entirely sure and, to make things worse, I don’t much care how this quote came about, but here it is:

“Ego sinks ships”

What I do know is, there’s one belief you can adopt in order to avoid this trap:

It is never about you.

It isn’t about Mike Tyson—it’s about the fights he gave us in his prime.

It isn’t about me—it’s about the mindset mentoring, and life lessons I share.

It isn’t about you, either—it’s about what you bring to the damn table.

If you start thinking about “what others will think of you,” then you’ve fallen into the ship-sinking trap that legends like every famous Mike (Tyson, Jordan, Jackson etc) have avoided.

Oh, and if you think old mate Mike Tyson lost that fight on Friday, then you probably missed the $20 million point he actually made…

PS. I finally have two mentorship spots opening up. I usually cap these at 15 per month, but next month I will be taking a break from Padel, so I have time for two more in November / December only. To get access, go to my website and click “Calls” in the menu, which is available (for now) until I’m too busy again…
